UPDATE

BloFli’s on a roll folks. Two weeks = two updates.

While the majority of the Red Apple was shot over the course of one day in November, we officially wrapped on Sunday (December 12) when James Ferris came down to Torrance for a night shoot.

All went well for a lean and mean crew, three members in total, Matt & Chris (writer/directors) and Melissa Eckelman (producer). The final scene for “The Red Apple,” was shot in under two hours and will probably be reduced to about 2 minutes of screen time.

We will be posting a Red Apple page soon, so keep checking back for updates.

UPDATE

When last the brothers Blo placed an update to this site, the title of their then upcoming project, hadn't been released. Only a few short months later, BloFli Pictures is proud to announce the name for their latest short film, "The Red Apple."

But folks, BloFli has done more than simply name the thing, they've also written, and shot the project as well.

Back in August, while waiting to fund "The Last Oasis," Chris and Matt grew restless and decided to make use of their two talented male leads, James Ferris and Nick Mouyiaris, thus "The Red Apple" was born. The one act film is a story of a desperate man attempting to exact revenge for the death of his brother. The project is now being edited and will hopefully be finished sometime around the top of 2005.

We will be posting more information every week so continue checking back and please, keep us honest. Throw us a line at info@blofli.com

UPDATE

If you’re wondering if BloFli Pictures still exists, the answer is… Yes it does.
The next questions you may ask is… Where have those BloFli boyz been for the last 6 months?
The answer to that is a bit more complicated. However, if we were to try and simplify it, it would boil down to three words; “The,” “Last” and “Oasis.” In all honesty, our failure to get “The Last Oasis” made hit us pretty hard.
You may have guessed this by now, but The Last Oasis is on hold indefinitely. It will get made when we have the means to make it what it deserves to be.
In the mean time, we are ready to move on to our next project. Look to this very page in the coming weeks to get the exciting details.

THE LAST OASIS UPDATE

Much has happened since our last update almost two months ago. Most importantly, the first round of principle photography has been moved back to early February of 2004. BloFli decided to take a step back from their ambitious November shooting schedule, feeling that the locations, props and costumes might be sacrificed at the expense of too early a starting date.

After many long days of looking at various desert locales throughout the greater Southern California area, BloFli has locked its desert location for The Last Oasis. About two and a half hours outside of Los Angeles sits the Johnson Valley, deep in the heart of the Mojave Desert's Barstow Resource Area. The majority of the filming will be taking place out there, far from any traces of civilization.

Many crew members have been brought on board to The Last Oasis Production Unit; some new, and some from the recognizable past. Melissa Eckelman, who was already spearheading the Festival submittal for Swatura is currently producing The Last Oasis. Josh Kushins will be second unit director and stunt coordinator for the film (Though, if the past is any indication, we know that he'll be sneaking his way onto the set to be acting in front of the camera as well.) Katrina Bergrstom has come back on board as make-up artist and will be up to her arms in blood, guts and scars for many of the fight scenes for The Last Oasis. And lastly, we will be getting Co-Founder of LBH Productions, Dylan Sanford to photograph our film. Dylan has been DP on a number of independent films and television shows, so the BloFli boys are super excited to be getting his input and experience for the film.

CASTING UPDATE

The leads for THE LAST OASIS have been cast and we couldn't be more pleased. We set out to find excellent actors, and we got much more than we expected. In fact, we saw SO MANY fine actors during casting it became a bit overwhelming. We want to thank everyone for the time and talent they gave.
We still have many roles to cast (featured and speaking), and will be calling many of you with offers of those roles.

A quick "hello" to all of our new visitors that may be looking for info regarding THE LAST OASIS and our notice in Backstage West. Lastly, there are many old pages that have been updated with new mastheads and such. Go here or here to see even more info on current and past projects.

Take 'er...

August the 21st, of the year 2003

Howdy folks… this is yer ol' buddy Spooky Cool, sayin’ howdy folks.
I ain’t got time fer much jibber-jabbin’, cuz I got a new job as the barker at my favorite place on earth. Yep! That’d be me yellin’ all them warnin’s at ya. Just “keep yer arms, legs, and six-shooters in the vehicle at all times,” and you’ll do just fine.
But I did want ta let ya in on a couple’a things.
First, if’n ya want ta get some sleep, follow this link… It’ll have ya noddin off in no time.
Second, the boys are finished writin’ their latest script and they been handin’ em out like biscuits on a gravy train. If ya’all think yer up to it, give em’ a hollar and maybe they’ll shoot one yer way.

August the 14th, of the year 2003

Howdy folks, this is yer ol’ buddy Spooky getting’ back to ya like I said I would.
Nothin’ much goin' on round my parts, just swatin’ the dang skeeters on my porch and drinkin’ some a that cool summer lemonade that ma likes to swirl up from time to time. The boys have been up to lots of no good lately. Lemme see if’n I can’t remember a little bit of what they were hollerin’ about today.
That’s right. They were cussin’ up somethin’ terrible the other day. They heard back from two of them dern festivals, one in LA and one in New York. (A coupla two-cow towns if you ask me). Now, conflamadamnamit, these folks weren’t accepted. Don’t make sense to ol’ Spooky. I went out and sent a little shot gun shells into the air for mournin’ sake, I suggest you do the same.
A bit on the warmer side of the saddle, they tol’ me that they have jus’ about wrapped up the script for their latest project. It ain’t gonna be a western, an’
won’t have no horses, shucks, I hear it may not even have any shotguns. But it will be in the desert.-- it ain’t much, but it’s a start. They asked me to post a scene. I tole them, ‘Naw it’s a little early yet. And then I done it anyway. They also asked me to ask you for a dern title. Seems the boys can’t figure out how to name the thing. Spooky’s ideas: “Wysteria and Gunsmoke,” “Tar and Feathered,” “Stear Clear O’ Steer” and “Bunches a’ Banjoes,” don’t quite warm their britches the way it do fer me.
Haven’t heard from any of ya. Spooky knows e-mail, so send the poor fella a line. Ma’ll let me know when I get mail, yes she will, conflamdamnamit!

August the 6th, of the year 2003

Howdy folks, this is your ole buddy, "Spooky Cool," sayin' howdy folks...
I just wanted ta let ya-all know that the boys are still around. The truth of it is, they asked me to update this here web page with the latest.
So here goes: First, they want ta let you know that from here on out, there will be an update once a week. If that don't happen, feel free to shoot 'em an email and give them an ear full.
Second, "Swatura" has been submitted at gunpoint ta several festivals, and we're hope'n ta hear some kinda word before the end of August.
Third, the boys are putting the finishing touches on their next project and plan to shoot this November (I'm pushin' fer a western). I'm gonna try and get 'em ta post a page 'er two in the next couple o' weeks!
Fourth, one of the Blofli family members, Josh Kushins, done went and got himself mixed up in a very rowdy thing. Now he spins the yarn better'n I do, but it involved him gettin' ta dress up in the REAL bull's-eye costume from the major picture-show called "Daredevil" and put on a "wire-fu" show for the media. Holy Smokes! The kid even trained under the Master! That's right, I ain't stutterin,... I said the MASTER, Woo-Ping Yuen! Here's to ya Josh!
Now, if'n anyone else out there has some project they want us to mention... drop us a line, and I reckon we'll see what we can do.
Til' then, this is yer ole buddy, "Spooky Cool," sayin' see-ya folks...

We will be posting our choices for the cast later this week. For us, one of the biggest challenges was making those final selections. There were so many people that we would have liked to have had the opportunity to work with.
