LOCATION SCOUT: MOJAVE DESERT

THE LAST OASIS will be taking place in one general location -- the Mojave Desert's Barstow Resource area just east of Victorville in Southern California.

The BloFli Team designed THE LAST OASIS to be a simple shoot in one fantastical location, due in part to the production time that was added to their last film by moving from set to set.

"We had over twenty different locations in Swatura. It could get pretty difficult, going from location to location throughout the South Bay in the course of a few hours. We had some pretty grand plans to start a day in San Pedro and end it in Griffith Park," said co-founder Matt Pevic. "But we decided to split some of the shooting days to accommodate for the long drives."

"We're looking forward to a location that isolates us and the actors from Los Angeles," added BloFli's other co-founder Chris Cullen. "Being about three hours away from the city, we'll be forced to stay there for, at least, a couple of days at a time. We'll be able to focus strictly on making a great movie."

"I think the biggest challenge with this location is creating a feeling of distance between the anthropologists and the warring desert tribes," said Cullen.

"I'm jazzed. We can basically turn the camera in opposite directions and get two different desert environments," said Pevic. "One side may be an open salt flat where tribes perform bloody battles and you can turn around and get a rocky desert gorge where the anthropologists make their camp."

On this film, BloFli Pictures is gearing up to have its biggest shoot yet. Transporting them to this isolated desert playground may be the one challenge that tests their filmmaking mettle.

Once again, they're upping the ante in scope, budget and running time.

"Being the intellegent, super-good looking guys that they are, I know one thing for sure," said Producer Melissa Eckelman. "The machetes will be sharp as sweet molasses-honey-butter-cream."

"In all seriousness, they've decided to make an hour-long feature with a bigger cast, more special effects and some pretty gnarly machete battles. We'll be scraping together our pennies and calling in a few favors," she said.
