Blake is alone. Living in a world of increasing alienation, his solitude closes in on him as he seeks to justify his own existence.
But Blake is alone because Blake is different, he knows more and feels more than the average human. Slowly, he comes to realize that there is an explanation for his acute awareness of microbes on his teeth and the tingling, itchy sensations on the back of his head.
Blake is an Alien. He’s from Outer Space.
His newfound extraterrestrial consciousness, however, holds no interest for his human co-

workers. And as he confesses his realization to the local bartender, he comes to find that only he can prove to himself that he is different. That, in fact, the proof is deep within himself. And, in order to make himself believe that he is not from this world, he must take a final leap of faith – it is at the end of this final leap that everything comes together for Blake, and everything makes sense.

Blue was created in early 2001 by brother-in-laws Matt Pevic and Chris Cullen as a five-minute short for a contest in a small DVD magazine. This film, our first, was completed within budget ($75), and surprisingly, before the deadline… actually just in time to witness the magazine go under.

It was shot in and around Southern California with two low-end JVC Mini-DV cameras and several shop lights from Home Depot. It was then mixed and edited on a Macintosh computer with iMovie, using Adobe Photoshop for the one special effect. If you’ve ever edited on iMovie, you’ll know why we’ve upgraded to Final Cut Pro for our next film.

A lonely man goes to extreme measures to prove that there is a reason for his isolation from co-workers, friends and just about every one he meets.
